About Tall Dates
|
|
What is a "Beta Version"?
Basically the term 'beta' describes the development stage
of a technical project, when many changes are still being
made. In the case of Tall Dates, we have gone through several
rounds of testing and made a lot of changes along the way.
We feel the project is solid enough to be on the web, but
we're still working on a few features like an integrated chat
function. While the site is still in 'beta', we would love
to hear your feedback about Tall Dates, especially if there
are any enhancements you would like to see.

How does the payment process work?
Our FREE membership is a great way to dip your toe into the
dating pool. To be really pro-active about meeting guys however,
you'll need to put yourself out there a little more.
You can usually find an "Upgrade" link near the
top of every page, once you click it you'll be able to see
all of the features available to each membership level. Once
you've decided to switch to a paid level of membership, just
follow the links to upgrade your account.
You must have a FREE Basic Account before you can upgrade
to our Deluxe membership levels. All of our payment processing
is handled through PayPal.
Their fully secure systems have been reviewed by Trust-e and
the Better Business Bureau's Online department. PayPal accepts
payments via Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card and American
Express. Over 35 million people trust PayPal with their money
and you can too.
As soon as you complete the quick, and easy transaction in
the PayPal system, you will return to the Tall Dates site.
You will have to log-in to Tall Dates again to access your
new membership level.

Is the 3-Day Deluxe Account a trial membership?
Our 3-Day Deluxe is set up like all of our Deluxe memberships.
The only thing that is different is the time of the subscription.
It's easy to pay $3 for three days so you can spend the weekend
sending notes to other members and hanging out in our chat
room. Like all of our Deluxe subscriptions, the 3-Day Deluxe
Account will send you a warning before you are billed again
and you can cancel your subscription or change your account
type at any time.

Why do I have to log in again for CHAT?
The basic explaination is that it's something seperate and
only for Deluxe members. We felt it was important to make
our core service available, so we've concentrated our development
resources on the main portions of the Tall Dates service.
Now that the site is up and running, we will concentrate on
improving our basic offerings. The more technical explaination
is that the CHAT functions we currently employ are an "off
the shelf" program that we tried to integrate into an
existing system. Having users re-login was a quick "work
around" integration solution.

Why can't I upgrade to a premium level?
We are taking a stepped approach with this project. We felt
it was important to make our core service available, so we've
concentrated our development resources on the main portions
of the Tall Dates service. Premium features tend to require
a longer development cycle to sort out an array of technical
and integration issues. We have a few premium features in
mind and hope to launch a premium membership level sometime
in 2004.

Can I make a suggestion?
Launching a beta version of Tall Dates proves that we're open
to suggestions. Have an idea for a new feature or a better
way of doing something on the site? LET US KNOW! If you think
it would be cool for Tall Dates to do more, please

Login and Registration Issues
|
|
Why should I register?
Registering as a FREE MEMBER is quick and easy. Registered
members can access more profiles than unregistered users.
The level of access depends on the membership account you
belong to.
To register, you will need to specify a username and password,
and a valid email address. Entering your email address will
not leave you open to 'spam' because all messages sent between
Tall Dates members are sent through our system. (Difference
between email and Tall Dates Messages)
To complete the registration process, the Tall Dates system
will send you an email with instructions for the final part
of the registration, so a valid and working email is mandatory.

Why can't I login?
The majority of members having login difficulties are using
an incorrect username or password. Double check your records
and try typing more slowly. Sometimes it's just a case of
transposing numbers (Making 12 into 21 for instance) The Tall
Dates system can send you an email with your correct username
and password if you can remember what email address you used
when registering.
Sometimes people only think they've become a member when
in reality they were just visiting Tall Dates as a gues. Do
you remember registering for Tall Dates? You must register
in order to login. Sometimes people check out the site and
leave without registering. If you're sure you have already
created a Tall Dates account, click the forgotten username/password
link and the Tall Dates system can send you an email with
your corect username and password.
Perhaps you been suspended from the system? (a message will
be displayed if you have.) If so then you should contact a
to find out why.
If you have exhausted all of these possabilities and you
still can't login, please contact a

Why do I get logged off automatically?
If you do not select "yes" on the "Automatically login when
you return to the site?" on your personal preferences then
the Tall Dates system will only keep you logged in for a preset
time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else.
To stay logged in, go to the member control panel and change
your account settings. This is not recommended if you access
Tall Dates from a shared computer at a library, internet cafe,
university cluster, etc.

Profile Posting Issues
|
How do I post a Profile?
You can post several profiles at the same time. To make the
most of this feature, you'll need to decide a dating strategy.
Do you want to find Mr. Right AND Mr. Right-Now? Do you want
to find a tall guy or a short guy or both? Targeted profiles
get targeted responses, so once you know what your objectives
are, you can tailor each of your profiles to attract a specific
type of guy. To post a profile:
- Click on the "Post Profile" link, usually found near the
top of the page. You can also go to the Member Control Panel
to find the link. (You need to be a registered Tall Dates
member with a FREE, basic or premium membership. You will
also need to be logged-in to be able to post a profile).
- Fill out the forms and click "Next" at the bottom of each
page.
- On Step 4: You can attach an image to your profile. Profiles
with pictures get better responses. You can either upload
a new image or if this is your second or third profile,
you can choose one from your available gallery.
- A page will appear displaying a preview of your profile.
This is how our members will see you.
- To make changes to your profile, click the link for the
portion of the profile that you wish to change.
- When you're finished editing, click the "Post Profile"
button and your profile will be added to the Tall Dates
site.

Hey my profile is gone! I thought I saved it. How do I get
it back?
Maybe you didn't complete the profile creation process. Tall
Dates will save your incomplete profiles for up to two hours
so you can complete the process in stages. To finish a personal
profile:
- Click on the "User control panel" link, usually located
at the top of pages.
- Click on the "Recount Your Posted Profiles" link.
- A page will display a table listing all of your incomplete
profiles.
- If you want to finish a profile : Click on the link of
the profile you are ready to complete.
If your profile was incomplete and you couldn't get back
to it for more than two hours after you started it, then it
is gone for good. Our system is automated to clean out the
database and there is nothing we can do to get the data back
once it has been scrubbed from our system.
If your profile was more than two hours old and you're sure
it posted successfully, i.e. you saw it online and it has
suddenly disappeared, please contact as
to fix the problem.

Tall Dates Messaging Issues
|
|
What's the difference between email and my Tall Dates mailbox?
When you reply to a personal profile on Tall Dates.com, you're
sending a message from your Tall Dates mailbox to the Tall
Dates mailbox of the user who posted the profile. It is a
closed system. E-mail on the other hand, can be sent to and
from any email address on the Internet. Because it is not
open directly to the Internet, you can't send or receive email
directly to or from a Tall Dates mailbox.
